Solidarity and empowerment – creating perspectives together with immigrant women and girls

Only informed, strong and self-confident women and mothers can

en make well-founded, future-proof decisions for themselves and their families and thus achieve participation. To do this, they must first be strengthened through empowerment offers, then provided with basic social knowledge and finally supported in finding their roles with and within the family. Since these components do not yet exist as a specific offer for newly arrived migrants in Thuringia, we want to connect, evaluate and expand them in this project. The project is a low-threshold offer for newly arrived (refugee) women, which is being implemented throughout Thuringia. The goal is to improve the equal participation of girls and women with a migrant background.

Project content:

  • Information events on social orientation and participation of women, e.g. in shared accommodation (topics: right of residence, health system, family planning, education system and raising children)
  • Empowerment workshop for an independent and independent lifestyle. These offers are intended to support participants in getting to know their own skills and abilities (better), reflecting on their role as a woman and developing (new) perspectives for themselves and the family.
  • Workshops for families to raise awareness of role and gender relationships and family models
